National Apprenticeship Week 2026 is a week-long celebration that brings together businesses and apprentices from across the UK to shine a light on the positive impact apprenticeships have on individuals, organisations, and the wider economy.

We know how important it is to find the right people for the job. By offering an apprenticeship, employers can develop skills that are directly aligned with our company’s current and future needs. This not only helps address skills gaps but also creates a strong pipeline of future managers and leaders from within the business.

The benefits of apprenticeships are clear. 92% of employers who have taken on apprentices say it leads to a more motivated and satisfied workforce, while 86% believe apprenticeships help develop skills that are genuinely relevant to their organisation. In addition, 80% companies report a significant increase in employee retention as a result of investing in apprenticeships.

Across the UK, apprenticeships continue to make a real difference. Since 2020, more than 1.34 million people have started an apprenticeship, with over 1,500 apprenticeship job roles available and more than 700 recognised apprenticeship standards. Importantly, 93% apprentices remain in employment once they complete their programme highlighting the long-term value apprenticeships bring to both individuals and employers.

But what’s in it for you? To find out, we’re speaking to two Portico Management Apprentices, who will be sharing their stories with us throughout the week.
