Portico’s ESG strategy with guiding principles to become Portico’s ‘Second Nature’: Inclusion by design

Portico ESG strategy, “Second Nature”, is built around four pillars, the expanded strategy will guide our direction of travel over the next three years in continuing to provide a positive workspace for our people, a welcoming space for guests, and a flourishing partnership with our clients, all while minimising our impact on the environment. So, what are the pillars – and how are we tracking against them? Inclusion by design  This is a framework for building an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive, and where diversity and inclusion is represented at all levels. We aim to improve gender and ethnic diversity in leadership, as well as local employment, employee engagement and the establishment of demographic-specific representative bodies, policies and networks. Under this pillar, we have already achieved the following:
    • Ensured all recruitment panels for C-Suite positions and above are gender-balanced (60% females/40% males in C-suite leadership positions in 2023)
    • Working towards our strategic target of gender pay gap below 10%, we have achieved 5.3% in 2023.
    • Have become a Living Wage Foundation Recognised Service Provider
    • Introduced a “gender decoder” in our job adverts, to ensure recruitment practices are inclusive across all levels within the organisation – a software to check each job spec to ensure no discriminatory language has been used
    • Signed a Fertility Charter and launched an enhanced fertility policy and guide to support employees with family planning
    • Launched a menopause policy to demystify and destigmatise menopause, as well as improve workplace conditions for those experiencing it, to provide ongoing support for our teams and family
    • Created Enlight diversity committee with focus on 5 employee network groups: Gender Equality, LGBTQIA+, Neurodiversity, Mental Health and Race & Ethnicity.
    • One female leader has been nominated for the WiHTL (Women in Hospitality, Travel and Leisure) Ethnic Future Leaders programme
Team members in Portico are participating in a “Reverse Mentoring”, programme , including mentoring board of directors with the second programme starting in June this year.
